THE 8th ANNUAL VILLAGE-WIDE RUMMAGE SALE IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2012!!!!



The Village-wide Rummage Sale will be conducted on Saturday, May 19, 2012.

The Village of Sister Bay is a friendly, thriving community where residents and visitors alike enjoy the natural beauty of its surroundings enhanced by well-maintained parks and the natural environment. The unique charm of the Village’s waterfront, library and businesses are enjoyed and utilized by all. As Northern Door County's year-round village, it balances the needs of a growing retirement community, while attracting and supporting its younger population with a viable economy. The Village has carefully controlled growth to maintain its charm, character and natural beauty.

You will note that there is a tab to the left which is labeled "Off. Docs & Notices". That is the tab you want to click on if you wish to gain access to information regarding meetings or any of the Village's rules and regulations. Please note that minutes are not considered official unless and until they have been formally approved. If you wish to access meeting agendas or minutes it will be necessary for you to double click on the title of the meeting you are interested in on the meeting calendar.

THE VILLAGE WILL BE CELEBRATING ITS CENTENNIAL!!!!!

In 2012 the Village will celebrate the centennial of its incorporation with events honoring the history of the Village's people and businesses!!!!! A huge weekend celebration is being planned, and it is anticipated that there will be historical presentations at the Village Hall and The Corner of the Past throughout the entire summer of 2012.

A committee has been formed to plan centennial celebration events, and persons interested in helping with planning those events are being sought. Volunteers are also needed to work at the events. The committee will meet every other Monday at 4:00 P.M. in the Small Meeting room at the Sister Bay-Liberty Grove Fire Station. Any interested persons are invited to attend the meetings.  If you have ideas for celebration activities but are unable to attend the meetings please contact Fred Johnson, the Chairperson of the Centennial Celebration Committee, at 920-854-9247.


 THE NORTHERN DOOR GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MEETS AT 2536 FIELDCREST LANE FROM
  9:30 A.M. TO NOON ON THE THIRD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH!!!!

No officers, no dues, just a good time sharing ideas, resources, questions and successes.  Participants have varying levels of expertise and experience.  Come  explore the history of your family and others and find creative ways to record and share that information.  Please check the Genealogical Society out.  That group of enthusiastic genealogical explorers would be delighted to add you to their membership roster.  For more information call Myrma Howard at (920) 854-5487.

CURRENT  GROUP  PROJECTS  INCLUDE:
Sister Bay Library Information Resource:
 From 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Tuesdays a member of the Genealogical Society will be at the Sister Bay Library to assist others with digging into their family histories.  You will be able to access several websites specializing in genealogical research.

Gen Web Project:
Gen Web is a website specializing in sharing genealogical data made available by local groups and organizations. 
With the permission of several local churches, members of the Genealogical Society have copied local church records, including but not limited to: Birth, Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage and Death Certificates. They are in the process of organizing and submitting those records to Gen Web so they will be accessible to others on-line.

Are you looking for a great location for your next party, family reunion, wedding, meeting or other event? The Village allows its buildings and parks to be rented for private events!!!!

For further information please call the Administration Office.

The Trillium Quilters regularly utilize one of the meeting rooms at the Fire Station.

The Village is looking for Sister Bay residents interested in serving their community. At the present time positions are available on the following commissions or committees:

Zoning Board of Appeals
Teen Center Board
TKH Ice Rink Committee

All commissions and committees meet monthly. If you are a Village resident and would like to make a difference, please contact Denise Bhirdo, Village President, at 920-854-4118.
